Meat balls are much celebrated in Nordic countries, however they do differ between regions.
In Finland, where the following recipe originated, meat balls are called “Lihapullat”.


500 g minced meat
40 g bread crumbs
100 ml cream
1 tablespoon oil
50 ml water
1 onion, chopped
1 egg
1 tablespoon Vegeta Gourmet Stock Powder
½ teaspoon allspice
pinch of white pepper
oil (for frying)

Preparation For this recipe you only need imagination!

  • 1 Mix breadcrumbs, water and cream and let stand for about 10 minutes.
  • 2 In oil cook the onion then allow to cool.
  • 3 Combine allspice, white pepper, Vegeta Gourmet Stock Powder, egg, bread crumbs, meat and mix well.
  • 4 Form meat balls and then cook in heated oil for about 5 minutes each side.


When forming meat balls, wetting your hands with water will stop the meat sticking to your hands.


You can serve meat balls with mashed potato and grated carrot salad.
